The Office of Head Start (OHS) posts notices of funding opportunities (NOFOs) to solicit applications for grant funds to specific service areas or a national competition.
This round of Head Start, Early Head Start (EHS) Expansion, and Early Head Start-Child Care (EHS-CC) Partnership grant competitions features a streamlined NOFO. New grant opportunity packages make it easier for applicants to locate service areas of interest and apply for funding opportunities through Grants.gov.

The Office of Head Start is excited to announce the availability of approximately $802,957,855 in federal funding for the following grant opportunities:
- National Centers
$30,300,000 to provide training and technical assistance (TTA) that reflects current evidence, is research-informed, and promotes best practices to Head Start programs.- National Center on Parent, Family, and Community Engagement (NCPFCE)
- National Center on Health, Behavioral Health, and Safety (NCHBHS)
- National Center on Early Childhood Development, Teaching, and Learning (NCECDTL)
- National Center on Program Management and Fiscal Operations (NCPMFO)
- Region XII Migrant and Seasonal Worker Collaboration Office
$350,000 to enhance coordination and collaboration between the OHS Regional Office, the OHS TTA System, Head Start recipients, other early care and education providers, and stakeholders that provide services related to the development and learning of children from low-income migrant and seasonal worker families. - Region XI American Indian Alaska Native (AIAN) Collaboration Office
$350,000 to enhance coordination and collaboration between the Region XI AIAN Office, Region XI AIAN recipients, early care and education providers, and other stakeholders that provide services related to the development and learning of low-income AIAN children and families. - Tribal Colleges and Universities Head Start Partnership Program Grants
$6,000,000 to be competitively awarded to tribal colleges and universities to establish or enhance partnerships with Head Start programs that effectively increase the number of qualified education staff working in AIAN Head Start programs. - Head Start Preschool/Early Head Start Recipient – Multiple Communities in AR, CO, CT, FL, GA, IL, IN, KS, KY, LA, MA, MD, MI, MN, MS, MT, NC, NJ, NM, NY, OH, OR, PA, PR, SD, TN, TX, VA, VT, WI
$649,964,602 to provide Head Start services to eligible children and families. Funding is available in roughly 74 competitive opportunities in 28 states. - EHS Expansion and EHS-CC Partnership Grants – Multiple Communities in GA, LA, MD, MI, NJ, NY, OH, VA, WI
$29,325,341 to expand access to high-quality, comprehensive services to low-income infants, toddlers, and their families through EHS-CC Partnerships, or through the expansion of Early Head Start services. Funding is available in roughly 10 competitive opportunities in nine states. - AIAN Head Start Expansion, EHS Expansion, and EHS-CC Partnership Grants
$9,177,455 to expand access to high-quality, comprehensive early learning services for newly enrolled, income-eligible AIAN pregnant women and pregnant people, and children from birth to compulsory school age, through EHS-CC Partnerships or through the expansion of Early Head Start services.
