Foundations of Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health Consultation

This online course offers a detailed learning experience for mental health consultants and anyone who currently uses or wants to learn more about Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health Consultation (IECMHC). In Module 1, learn about the role of a consultant and the foundational knowledge and core competencies needed for IECMHC. In Module 2, learn about reflective practice in the supervisor-supervisee relationship. Explore the important role of the consultant in working with families and how culture (e.g., beliefs, values, attitudes, biases, experiences) influences relationships, behaviors, communities, and settings in meaningful ways. In Module 3, explore the tasks and best practices associated with providing consultation at the program level, in classrooms and homes, and with children and families. Also, learn how IECMHC programs fit into early child systems at the state, territorial, or tribal level.
