The Head Start Heals campaign increases awareness of how Head Start is uniquely qualified to address trauma and promote resilience for children and families. Supporting partnerships between staff and parents can help to build resilience for children and families. Staff awareness prior to entering challenging conversations with families can lead to collaborative conversation that strengthen relationships with families. Mental health consultants play a valuable role in supporting trauma-informed care, a model to build family resilience. 
Understanding the meanings behind behaviors that challenge staff and families can foster responsive and nurturing relationships. It can also inform positive responses to challenging behaviors young children who have experienced trauma may show. The resources below can support staff to have challenging or difficult conversations with families and understand the meaning of behaviors that challenge us.
